Part of the Liberty Science Center exhibition Microbes Rule!, VMAL invites visitors to create their own vibrant, virtual 'living' artworks.
On a multi-user digital tabletop, visitors simulate the real-world lab processes of painting with microbes in dishes of agar. As they incubate their work, they see the microbes grow into colorful blossoms. Easter eggs, a virtual gallery, and mobile sharing make for a rich, engaging STEAM learning experience.
I led the creative and technical development of the project from UX through visual design, software development, and installation.
